Indoor snow day fun

Yes, it’s another snow day here in Philadelphia. But unlike the last storm, today it is very very windy. Audrey had no interest in going out to play, and I wasn’t going out in that cold, so I suited up the two little girls and sent them out. (I LOVE having a fenced-in back yard!)

They were so cute. Our previously respectable snowman had melted into a foot-tall pile of tired-looking snow, but Georgia went and found some twigs for new arms. Sydney came and pounded on the door for a “carrot nose” and soon they were back, asking for a box of raisins and two grapes. Here they are working on their masterpiece:

But they lasted about 45 seconds longer and wanted to come back inside. And we had a whole long day stretching before us, a day where I wanted to keep all four of our faces looking like this:

Audrey and I played a round of Double Solitaire while the little girls watched Sesame Street and somehow our game lasted through the whole hour when I was planning my shower…I threatened them sufficiently to hop in quickly. Miraculously, when I got out, they kept playing nicely together for an HOUR. WITHOUT mommy’s intervention. Then we had lunch, and I felt like we were getting somewhere with this loooooooong day.

So I decided to bring out some ideas that I have been thinking about for a while. First, we started working on a foam project–a bunny house that I got for 90% off after Easter last year. Well, I had fun with it, but it was far too complicated for the girls. So it is not done. Hopefully once it dries and we get to decorate it, they will be more into it.

Then we tried a spin-off of a snack we saw Mel eating at the circus on Wednesday night. We threaded three mini-marshmallows onto a toothpick, dipped them in melted chocolate chips, and stuck them onto a graham cracker. I’m not sure what they called this treat at the circus, but we called them Yummy!

Then I set the two little girls up with some Cheerios and yarn to make Cheerio necklaces.

We are now sitting on the couch, watching American Idol on the DVR while Georgia and Sydney are stringing their Cheerios. It’s 4:00. We almost made it…but they have a teacher inservice day on Monday! Aaaaaaahhhhhh!

I want to come to your house on a snow day! We missed out on the snow this time which made me sad. Didn't even get a delay the morning after our late night at the circus. How fun that you made the smore thingys-that-I-can't-remember-the-name-of. I'm totally stealing you mini recipes!!! They look delicious and much easier to eat than on that huge stick!! Can't wait to hear about your Monday adventures.

Looks like you had a great day!

I'm wondering if we will ever have a full week of school again? It's been crazy. The house looks like it will be fun to decorate! Great score!
